Juried By:
Linda Swanson
Art Department Chair
University of Santa Fe
Linda Swanson recieved her MFA from Goddard College and BFA from Indiana University. She has shown her work nationally and her paintings are in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum and the Newark Museum. She recently curated an exhibition & lecture at the Museum Gallery of Modern Art in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Much of the work I selected had a strong sense of physical engagement with materials revealed in surfaces that were layered, scraped, applied, embellished or altered. These surfaces in turn engage the viewer with a sense of duration--the time the artist has been present in the work. There is a satisfaction and even wonder in seeing the "work" of these pieces.
