Exhibition Opportunities

Art on Paper

The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites all artists residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter its 38th annual Art on Paper competition. Any original 2-D or 3-D work created on or of paper, including collage, artist book, origami, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and more, will be considered. Works selected will be on exhibit in the MFA Circle Gallery, 18 State Circle, Annapolis, Maryland from April 2 to May 3, 2015. The exhibition chair is Carole Falk.

  • Exhibition Dates: April 2 - May 3
  • Submissions Deadline: January 22
  • Maximum Size: 72 inches any direction
  • Juror: Michael O'Sullivan, Staff Writer and Art Critic for The Washington Post.

Terms of Entry For Exhibitions

All work and entries must comply with MFA Exhibition Guidelines.  Detailed Exhibition and Presentation Guidelines can be accessed HERE, and also during the online entry process.

Eligibility

  • Only residents of the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada are eligible to enter.

Work

  • A maximum of 6 original works created within the past 3 years may be entered.

  • Works previously exhibited in a juried show at Circle Gallery are not eligible.

  • Works may not exceed 72 inches in width, height or depth, including the frame, unless otherwise specified for a particular exhibit.

  • All work must be signed by the artist and all photographs and hand-pulled prints must be numbered.

Entries and Submission Fees

  • Entries must be submitted online.

  • Entry fees are $35 (MFA members, $20) for one or two entries and $5 each for up to four additional entries. Entry fees are non-refundable.

  • To enter online, you will need an MFA account that includes an email address and a password.  There is no charge to create an MFA account

  • Images must be in JPEG files less than 2MB with the recommended longest pixel dimension between 1600 and 2000 pixels (maximum).

  • Images of accepted works may be used at the sole discretion of MFA for promotional purposes including but not limited to the invitation, catalog, web site or on a subsequent year's prospectus. Image will include attribution whenever possible.

Focal Point: fine art and creative photography

The MFA (Maryland Federation of Art) invites all artists residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter its 5th annual Focal Point, an open-juried all-photography competition. Following exhibition guidelines, any original 2-D or 3-D work created in any form of photography, other than video, will be considered. Exhibiting concurrently is the juried work of the Chesapeake Woodturners. Works selected will be on exhibit at MFA’s Circle Gallery, 18 State Circle, Annapolis, Maryland from February 26 to March 28, 2015. The exhibition chair is John Coder.

  • Exhibition Dates: February 26 - March 28

  • Submissions Deadline: January 2

  • Maximum Size: 72 inches any direction

  • Juror: Diana Bolz, arts editor of Moment magazine, former arts editor Smithsonian magazine

Stormy Weather

MFA invites all artists residing in United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter Stormy Weather, a juried art exhibition depicting the sights, sounds, colors, impact, anticipation and more of weather and its impact. Any 2-D a work following exhibition guidelines and meeting size requirements (44 inches maximum dimension) will be considered by the juror. Selected works will be exhibited at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second Street, Annapolis MD 21401

  • Exhibition Dates: January 15 - March 15, 2015 Show Chair: David Diaz

  • Submissions Deadline: October 29, 2014

  • Maximum Size: 44 inches any direction

  • Jurors: Emily Gracey, meteorologist and reporter Fox 45 News, Baltimore; Barry Shauck, Assistant Professor and head of Art Teacher Education, Boston University College of Fine Art, Boston.

Small Wonders

The Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites all artists residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter its 12th Small Wonders competition. Any original 2-D or 3-D work meeting exhibition guidelines and size restrictions, will be considered.

Strokes of Genius

MFA invites all artists residing in United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter Strokes of Genius: National Juried Painting Competition. Original works created through any painting media (including oil, watercolor, ink, acrylic, gouche, pastel, encaustic, etc. ) and following exhibition guidelines will be considered by the juror. Selected works will be exhibited at MFA Circle Gallery.
